What is Alexithymia?
Alexithymia comes from the Greek term which loosely translates to "no words for emotion". Alexithymic people are characterized by the inability to recognize, identify, or describe their own or other’ emotions. This commonly leads to a lack of empathy. While there are no specific treatments for alexithymia, there are ways to help individuals manage their symptoms. For example, taking anxiety or depression medications, CBT-type therapies, journaling, and engaging in the creative arts. iEmote strives to make all of these solutions accessible in a unique, efficient, and fun way.
